Volunteer in Guatemala

This project is a safe haven for young mothers and their children. It’s home to a varying number of teenage girls, young women, and little ones. Some of the girls are teen mums with babies or toddlers, while others are teenage girls who have experienced sexual abuse.

All the girls and young women staying here are under 18, and their children are typically between 0 and 5 years old. The shelter offers a supportive and structured environment where they can begin to heal, feel safe, and start building a better future.

This project is based in an underprivileged neighbourhood, supporting children who live and work in extreme poverty or are at risk of ending up on the streets. It also empowers local women and families, helping them become more financially self-sufficient.

There’s a community lunchroom for kids and a variety of after-school activities. Every afternoon, around 70 to 80 children aged between 6 and 14 come to the project for support, care, and a safe space to learn and play. Volunteering here will make a huge impact on the children in Guatemala!

Guatemala offers free public healthcare to all its residents, but many communities still face challenges accessing consistent medical support. As a volunteer, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact by assisting in health centres around vibrant Quetzaltenango. These community clinics provide essential services such as doctor consultations, vaccinations, and general health check-ups, all free of charge. You'll be part of a local team helping to improve everyday access to healthcare. With services running during the day, you'll also have time to explore the rich culture and stunning landscapes of the region in your free hours.

This project is located on Guatemala’s stunning Pacific coast, it's all about protecting wildlife and preserving nature in the El Hawaii region which is a vital and protected area. By working closely with local communities, the project helps ensure this beautiful place stays safe and thriving for future generations to enjoy.

Do you want to work deep in the jungle of Guatemala with wild animals? At our Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, you’ll be helping animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade. From parrots and monkeys to crocodiles and turtles. You’ll live in a cosy wooden house, take refreshing dips in the lake, and be part of an unforgettable adventure. And who knows… you might even get the chance to care for a baby animal or release one back into the wild!
