Hi! We’re Dani, Lauren and Michelle.
We set up our own project in Tanzania. Through our school, we spent six weeks in beautiful Tanzania, soaking up the amazing culture. We did this by giving and taking dance lessons. During these lessons, a fantastic exchange developed between us and the students. It was a really rewarding experience, and we got to know the students in a meaningful way.

There was a really lovely exchange between our cultures.
What exactly did we do? Our days were made up of three activities. Every morning we taught English to our own class, in the afternoon we gave dance lessons to our regular dance class, and we finished the day with a dance session for ourselves. It was incredibly rewarding to work with the children and watch them really come alive during the dance lessons.
Where they might have been a little quiet during English lessons, they completely came out of their shells when dancing! The energy the students gave was amazing. While we were teaching them new things, we also learned so much ourselves. The children especially loved teaching us some steps too, which created a really beautiful exchange between our cultures.
On top of that, it was a great opportunity to meet new people at the volunteer house and have some amazing adventures together. We went on lots of fun trips, including a safari, and eventually even visited Zanzibar. It was a wonderful chance to make friends!
Unsure about doing this yourself? Our advice would be to just go for it!!

We look back on this period with such warm feelings and have made the most wonderful memories. It’s a time we’ll never forget.
Lots of love,
Dani, Lauren and Michelle
