If you're looking for more than just a holiday, this could be the adventure you're after.
Spend three weeks living and volunteering in the beautiful region of West Sumatra, where you'll contribute to meaningful community and conservation projects while discovering a side of Indonesia that most travellers never get to see. Then, to finish the trip, you'll head off on an incredible week of adventure, culture and surfing as you explore more of this amazing country.
Everything is organised for you, departure dates are set, and you'll be travelling alongside like-minded volunteers from around the world. All you need to do is show up ready for the experience.
This is where your journey begins.
For three weeks, you'll become part of a local community and contribute to projects that make a genuine difference. You can support sea turtle conservation, assist with local education programs, and get involved in coral reef restoration activities that help protect Indonesia's incredible marine environment.
The village you'll call home is peaceful, welcoming and far removed from the busy tourist trail. It's the kind of place where you'll quickly get to know the locals, experience everyday life, and gain a much deeper understanding of the culture.
Outside of volunteering, there's plenty of time to explore. Surf at nearby beaches, discover hidden waterfalls, enjoy incredible sunsets and share meals with fellow volunteers overlooking the ocean.
Life here is simple in the best possible way. Days are filled with purpose, adventure and connection, and it's often the little moments that become the most memorable.
If you're looking for a travel experience that combines giving back, meeting great people and exploring an incredible destination, West Sumatra delivers all of that and more.

Your weekdays are spent making a difference, but the weekends are all about exploring everything this incredible region has to offer.
You'll have the chance to discover more of West Sumatra, experience local culture, relax on beautiful beaches and spend time with the friends you've made along the way. From surfing sessions at Air Manis Beach to exploring the surrounding area, there's always something happening.
As your time in West Sumatra comes to an end, we'll celebrate with one final beach gathering. It's the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable few weeks, sharing stories, watching the sunset and making the most of your last weekend together.
One of the highlights of this trip is learning to surf at the famous Air Manis Beach.
Never surfed before? No worries. Professional surf instructors will guide you through the basics and help you build confidence in the water from your very first lesson.
If you've already spent some time on a board, you'll have plenty of opportunities to improve your technique and enjoy the consistent waves that make this stretch of coastline so popular.
Whether you're catching your first wave or chasing your best one yet, there's nothing quite like finishing a day of volunteering with a surfboard under your arm and the ocean right in front of you.

After three rewarding weeks of volunteering, it's time to experience another side of Indonesia.
Your final week takes you to the incredible landscapes of North Sumatra, where adventure and culture come together. Trek through the rainforest in search of wild orangutans, explore traditional villages, take in spectacular mountain scenery and visit the breathtaking Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world.
Every day brings something different, from jungle adventures and cultural experiences to unforgettable views and moments you'll be talking about long after the trip is over.
It's the perfect way to finish your Indonesian adventure, giving you the chance to see some of the country's most iconic natural wonders while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Your final week starts in Bukit Lawang with a jungle trek to see wild orangutans in their natural habitat.
From there, you’ll hike Sibayak Volcano and explore the stunning Lake Toba, before finishing with visits to one of Sumatra’s largest mosques and a traditional local market.
It’s a perfect mix of jungle adventure, volcanic landscapes and rich culture to end your Indonesian journey.

This trip is the ultimate combination of volunteering, adventure, culture and surfing.
