Day 1:
Ever been somewhere so remote that even Google Maps throws in the towel? Welcome to Ruma Village! This morning, we’re picked up from our hotel in Pokhara and set off on an epic 8-hour journey. It's a mix of bus and jeep travel. Sounds long, but trust me, the views along the way will make up for it. The further we go, the more authentic the surroundings become. When we finally arrive in Ruma, it feels like stepping into another world. No tourists, no crowds. Just you, the locals, and the stunning wilderness. After a quick village exploration, we settle in and get ready for our first night.
Day 2:
Time to hit the mountains! With a local guide and a crew of incredible porters (the legends carrying our gear), we start a trek that will have us camping under the stars for two nights. We hike from Ruma to Dura Lake Basecamp, setting up our tents at an altitude of 2400 metres. A night under a sky full of stars and jaw-dropping views over the sweeping valleys will leave you speechless.
Day 3:
After a good brekkie, we continue climbing. Today’s a solid push upwards, with our goal being Dura Lake Peak at 3600 metres. It’s a tough hike, but the rewards are massive! The higher you go, the more breathtaking the views get. When you reach the summit, it feels like the whole world is at your feet. Time to kick back and relax while the porters set up camp. If camping at the top of the world was on your bucket list, tick it off!
Day 4:
An early start today, but for good reason. The highlight of the trek is about to unfold... A golden sunrise over the mighty Himalayas, with views of Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) and Machhapuchhre (6,993 m). After soaking up this magical moment, we trek back down to Ruma for some well-earned rest. In the afternoon, we visit the local school, taking sports gear and books to the kids. The smiles on the children's faces are absolutely priceless.
Day 5:
Today we say goodbye to the village that became our home, and begin the journey back to Pokhara. An experience you’ll never forget!
