Imagine spending three weeks living and volunteering in the beautiful region of West Sumatra. You’re part of something meaningful, working on real projects that support local communities and protect the environment. In your free time, you explore hidden beaches, learn to surf, dance under the stars and share unforgettable moments with people from all over the world. Everything is organised for you, departure dates are set, and you can even travel with other volunteers. It doesn’t get much easier than that.
This is where your experience really comes to life.
You’ll get involved in two impactful projects, either supporting sea turtle conservation or helping with a local education program in a peaceful village where tourism barely reaches. It’s a chance to properly connect with the community and experience daily life in rural Indonesia.
You’ll also take part in coral reef restoration work, contributing to the protection of one of the world’s most important marine ecosystems.
After volunteering, life slows down. Think simple meals, ocean views, live music, and sunsets that feel like they go on forever. It’s rewarding in a way that’s hard to explain until you’re there.

Your weekends are yours to explore.
You’ll head out from Padang to surf at Air Manis Beach, discover more of the surrounding area, and experience local culture along the way. It’s relaxed, social, and always a bit different each time.
And to finish your time in West Sumatra, there’s one last big beach celebration with everyone you’ve met along the way. A proper send-off.
Never surfed before? That’s completely fine.
Experienced instructors will guide you through it step by step, helping you build confidence in the water. If you already surf, you’ll have plenty of time to improve and enjoy consistent waves in an unreal setting.
Either way, it’s simple. Show up, paddle out, and enjoy it. The ocean does the rest.

In short, it’s a genuine mix of volunteering, adventure, culture and surfing. A proper experience, not just a trip.
