General Information

Ngorongoro Crater Adventure: 3 Days / 2 Nights

Ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Buckle up, because we’re heading to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater! This UNESCO World Heritage site is the spot for nature lovers, wildlife fanatics, and anyone who’s ever dreamed of starring in their own David Attenborough movie! Standing inside a massive ancient volcano surrounded by wildlife is one of those experiences you’ll carry with you for a long time.

Nicknamed the Eighth Wonder of the World, the crater is the world’s largest inactive volcanic caldera and it’s bursting with wildlife: lions, elephants, zebras, hyenas, and if you’re lucky, the rare black rhino. No fences, no filters, just raw nature doing its thing.

Day 1: Arusha to Ngorongoro: The Safari Begins

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Arusha, throw your bags in the 4x4, and hit the road toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You’ll cruise past local villages, epic landscapes, and possibly a rogue goat or two on the road. After about 3-4 hours, you’ll roll into your stay for the night. Cosy lodges with jaw dropping views that’ll fill up your camera roll.

After lunch, it’s time for your first game drive along the rim of the crater. Expect zebras casually grazing, buffalo eyeing you suspiciously, and elephants being their majestic selves. As the sun sets, you’ll head back to the lodge to chill, eat, and stargaze like never before.

Travel Time: 3-4 hours
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Cosy lodges with epic views

Day 2: Game Drives Inside the Crater

Wake up, grab a cuppa, and let’s do this. Today we’ll descend into the crater. Once at the bottom, it’s a whole different world. You’re surrounded by wildlife from all directions.

This is your best shot at seeing the Big Five in one go. Lions chilling in the grass, hippos splashing about, elephants strolling like they own the place, and maybe even a leopard lounging in the Lerai Forest. We’ll stop for a bush lunch with insane views and a chill soundtrack of birdsong and snorting wildebeest. Then it’s back out to track even more animals before heading home for a well earned dinner.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Your trusty lodge

I’ve had an amazing time here and would definitely recommend Tanzania to anyone. It’s so different from back home, and through the projects you can share your skills with the local community while learning just as much from them.

We set up our own project in Tanzania. Through school, we spent six weeks in beautiful Tanzania getting inspired by the culture, sharing and learning through dance classes.

Because it was so much fun on the project and with the other volunteers, we even extended our stay by a week. If you’re unsure about going, we would definitely recommend it!!!
