General Information

Experience the Real Tanzania: Family Visit and Overnight Stay with a Local Family!

Want to really experience Tanzanian life? Then this weekend trip in Iringa is definitely for you! We're talking staying with a local family, cooking together, sharing stories by the campfire, and getting a behind-the-scenes look at village life. It’s your chance to dive right into the culture and not just see it, but live it.

Traditioneel gezin Tanzania

You’ll be welcomed with open arms by your host family, who'll make you feel like part of the crew straight away. You’ll learn how to cook traditional Tanzanian dishes (yep, that means making Ugali, and trust us, it’s an experience), and you will taste the freshest food you’ve ever had, straight from the garden.

But wait, it gets even better. This weekend, you’ll get even deeper into the culture. You’ll head into the village with your host family for a tour that’ll stick with you forever. Walk through local markets, meet the village elders (they’ve got stories that will blow your mind), and learn about the customs and rituals that shape life here. You’ll visit spots that only locals go to and get a chace to see the real Iringa, raw and authentic.

In the evening, you'll gather around the campfire and sip homemade bamboo drinks with the villagers and hear stories passed down through generations. Plenty of laughter, music and maybe even a bit of dancing!

This weekend trip isn’t just a getaway; it’s an experience. You’ll become part of the community, connect with the locals, and get an insider’s look at their traditions and way of life. After just a few days, you’ll fall head over heels for this beautiful part of Tanzania.

So, are you ready to discover the real Tanzania? Book this unforgettable experience and add some adventure and good vibes to your volunteering journey.

We set up our own project in Tanzania. Through school, we spent six weeks in beautiful Tanzania getting inspired by the culture, sharing and learning through dance classes.

I’ve had an amazing time here and would definitely recommend Tanzania to anyone. It’s so different from back home, and through the projects you can share your skills with the local community while learning just as much from them.

Because it was so much fun on the project and with the other volunteers, we even extended our stay by a week. If you’re unsure about going, we would definitely recommend it!!!
